A letter from the Village

THING HAVE CHANGED SO FAST THAT NOWADAYS THE PEOPLE IN JANJANG BUREH NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT TRAVELING TO BANJUL.

We left Janjang Bureh around 2pm, crossed the ferry and joined the last bus traveling to Banjul.
I was with some friends who had been visiting their relations, and the same time used to opportunity to attend the Armitage Speech and Prize giving ceremony. So call it a reunion of forces or a meeting that was meant to be?

I had already made up my mine that I should travel through the south bank of the country until my friend advised me to travel through Janjang bureh. I wasn;t disappointed except that I was in Barra until midnight due to the teeming crowds waiting to cross.

Perhaps this explains why the people of Sankulay Kunda and Jangjang Bureh were quite impressed with the President His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhajji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh after laying the foundation stone for what is going to link SK and JJB.

As for my village, I could not help but marvel at the dilapidated compounds that were once upon a time a symbol of reconcilation. And to crown it; the religious programme I attended clearly manifested how things have changed in Fulabantang. That was not all about my visit... [ Watch out for the second part in the coming days.
